The Thinker (Le Penseur de Rodin) is a contemporary reinterpretation of one of the most iconic figures in the history of sculpture. Created by Małgorzata Martzloff-Kowalczyk in 2024, this oil on canvas painting, measuring 92 × 73 cm, revisits Auguste Rodin’s celebrated masterpiece through the artist’s distinctive abstract and symbolic visual language.

The composition is dominated by fluid white forms that evoke the silhouette of a seated figure immersed in contemplation. Rather than reproducing Rodin’s sculpture literally, the artist distills its essence into a network of organic curves and intertwined lines. The figure appears suspended within a dynamic environment of deep blues and vibrant greens, creating a space that feels both physical and psychological.

The sweeping white lines surrounding the central form suggest waves of thought, memory, and consciousness. These rhythmic structures create a sense of movement and introspection, transforming the traditional image of the thinker into a visual representation of the mind itself.
